"My goal here at Kittery Specific Chiropractic is to allow you and your family to surpass your healthcare goals. By being Specific about your health, this can become a reality."
Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and raised in York, Maine, Dr. Joshua Pirini completed his academic tenure attending York schools. He received a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with a focus in Pre-Medical studies from the University of Southern Maine. His doctoral degree was obtained from the largest Chiropractic school in the world, Life University in Marietta, Georgia.
While playing collegiate basketball, Dr. Pirini suffered an injury to his spinal column that prevented him from walking without excruciating pain. After being carried to the athletic training room, he was examined by a nearby medical doctor who suggested he visit a chiropractor. “At this point in time, I was in what I thought was the best shape of my life. I considered myself to be the healthiest person I knew. Except, I was taking large amounts of Advil and other NSAID’s for my issues. I quickly learned that these things did not provide me with HEALTH.” Dr. Pirini’s Chiropractor explained how his entire body was controlled by the brain and spine which, together, make up the central nervous system. Due to physical, mental and emotional stresses the spine can shift out of alignment. This interferes with the brain’s ability to send and receive messages and can affect how well your body functions and heals. “After one week of chiropractic care, I was back to basketball practice and competing at full speed. In a short time, I went from being unable to walk, to dunking a basketball again. It did not end there. Just because I felt fine, I still needed to be under care and monitored so that my problems did not resurface and I could move on with my life.” |
During his time at Life University, Dr. Pirini spent hundreds of hours of post-graduate courses in Pediatric Chiropractic through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). “Before I went to Chiropractic school, I was in charge of developing a basketball program for kids age 5 and 6 through the York Parks and Recreation. At that time, it became evident to me how much I enjoyed working with kids, how brilliant they are, and what joy they bring to this world day in and day out. It was at this time that I decided I wanted to further study how imperative it is for children to seek chiropractic care.”

Prior to opening Kittery Specific Chiropractic, Dr. Pirini was found working with patients from age 2 weeks to 95 years at a practice in Portsmouth, NH. Being a 2-year resident of Kittery, ME, he found an immense love for the community and could not have asked for a better town to open his business.
